Claire Loughran

Claire resides in Stamullen, County Meath. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Education at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin where painting was her major area of study. Themes in her work reflect her interest in the local environment, the forces of nature and it's elements. Past series of work have shown an interest in Irish Heritage and our ever changing culture. In her current series of work 'Elements' natural forms and layered surface textures converse in a crescendo of rich natural colours and receding tones. The high impact paintings draw inspiration from the natural elements but, given their abstraction, the viewer may relate their own meaning to them.

Claire is not merely interested in art for the sake of ornament. The concept behind her work is paramount in the creation of her images and the final paintings are due to the culmination of research and intensive studies from primary sources.
