  Rachel McCabe

Rachel McCabe is an emerging Irish artist, originally from Co. Cavan. She has, primarily, concentrated on watercolour where she finds an infinite versatility of the natural world can be created. Detail has often driven her work and she always makes careful observations of her subjects. She also loves capturing formations through colour combinations and a multitude of experimentation and technique processes. Her execution of floral and plant collages are realistic and she tries to display a stunning degree of precision. Working from photographs in the winter months Rachel finds that it’s much more exciting to work directly from nature.

Ireland’s remote landscapes are astoundingly beautiful, often powerful. More recently Rachel has begun to expose this in her work; her surroundings have influenced her greatly. Her perspective on these compositions has direct personal vision. Again, she often uses digital reference in order to fix dimension and centre her attention. However, as time passes, it becomes less about the photography and more about her own focus and visualization. While capturing the cultural significance of Mother Nature Rachel has also been deeply inspired by the places she has travelled and this is evidently present in her work.
